 Hi, I am new to the forum here, so first of all hello! I make pebble pendants, and I use Ice Resin to give them a shiny, professional finish. however, I am having problems coating the pebbles with the resin. Every possible technique I have either tried or have thought of presents issues.

If you apply the resin witha paint brush it is almost impossible to get a perfect finish, you have to first coat the underside of say, a fairly flat stone, wait 3 days for it to dry, then coat the other side, wait 3 days, and then attempt to coat round the side. Problems with this method include, having to do multiple coats to the side of the stone because you cannot put sufficient resin on in one coat as it will drip, also you sometimes get the brush putting resin onto the bottom or top coat of the stone, meaning it is then tarnished.

Dipping the stones in a larger pot of mixed resin will give you an even shiny finish, but then you have to sand down the inevitable pool of resin at the bottom of the stone and re apply resin here with a paint brush. As gravity affects resin you always have a thick coating of resin at the bottom of the pebble which you cannot then recreate at the bottom of your sanded pebble.

I know people are using ice resin to coat pebbles and are producing really good results, I just cannot figure out how this is done.

Can anyone help me with hints or tips on how to apply ice resin to pebbles, any you tube videos or videos of this would be great, there are none out there I can find.

Hi Nik,

What you’re describing here are the problems I would expect you to find when using resin to coat pebbles.  I don’t have any experience with doing this, so I can’t offer you any tips.

Have you thought about trying the resin gloss sealer spray?  https://shop.resinobsession.com/collections/tools-and-supplies/products/castin-craft-gloss-resin-sealer-spray  It won’t give you a thick coating, but it will be shiny.

 Thanks for your reply Katherine, the spray does not ship internationally, I am on a Greek island! I have ordered a clear spray lacquer to see if this solves the issues I have, touch dry in 10 minutes, 50 minutes to be fully dry. I think it is close to the link you provided.

If this does not work, would there be a way to order this spray to get it sent to Greece?

Hi Nik,

Unfortunately, I dont have any way to get this spray to you in Greece.  Its an aerosol product which means it cant travel by air.
