Embedding issues

I volunteer with a non-profit org.  I want to make resin pieces with our logo embedded in them.  Not sure whether to use photo paper matte/glossy or transparencies.   If I use transparent paper where do you get it?  Can you use it with your printer?  And do you have to seal it first before puttting it into the resin?  At first I was going to print our logo out on paper and modge podge it. But then I would need to cut out the image.  I can't cut just the image out, so that is not an option. So I would just cut the logo  out in a square shape. When I go to embed it in the resin the edges will stand out and I don't think it will look very good. I want the image to look like it was handpainted on the piece of resin.  Any ideas on how and what to print out our logo on? What about the background any ideas???  I have just started using resin, so I am Very much an amateur.  So any help is GREATLY APPRECIATED!!
Thank you,
Cathy

 Hi Catherine,
I too have been wanting to do the same thing. There is a way to use transparencies in your printer, you can probably do a quick search on some of the office sites (Staples, Office Depot) to get an idea of which to use on your type of printer.

I'm waiting on an order of faceplates, and when I receive them, I'll experiment with the logo on transparency in the resin. I believe too that there are some little decorative papers/foils that can be used in the background. I, though, plan on trying a polymer clay background and see how that comes out before I purchase any expensive foils. The polymer clay should be baked before adding to the resin though.

I hope this helps a little and points u in the right direction. I'm pretty new to resin myself, but I know it's a very very versatile medium so I'm sure there's a great way to accomplish what we're aiming for.

Oh, and I used regular printer paper in my resin before. I was using a seashell so the background was already white and so the paper kind of blended in and didn't look too obvious.

Hi Catherine!

Lillian shared some great advice.  You should be able to get transparencies from an office supply store.  Check with the manufacturer, but they should be able to get printed through an ink jet printer (NOT a laser jet).

Have you thought about putting images on the transparency, cutting it out, then doming resin right onto it (instead of using a mold)?
