Hi – I have been pouring resin into acrylic trays and boxes in layers, adding in glitter, charms, etc.
I have noticed a lot of residue on the sides from splashes, sticky fingers, etc so I used acetone on a cotton ball to remove – but then I notice tiny cracks all over the acrylic box. I should note I was doing the acetone outside and it was about 45 degrees.
Do you think the cold mixed with the acetone causes the cracking? Or just the acetone?
Or should I be sealing the acrylic box before pouring so that leaks don’t compromise the structure?

Sorry for the multiple questions – I just have no idea what is causing these cracks or how to effectively remove these drips and these mistakes are getting expensive 🙂

      Hi Eve,

I don’t have a lot of experience with pouring resin into acrylic. Your cracking could be from the acetone, but I wonder if it’s also coming from the resin expanding and shrinking. Similar things happen when you pour resin into glass.
