      This question comes from Michaelene:

I have been making compacts. I hand paint them, put a coat of resin on top and insert different types of pins and brooches. They turn out great. I recently had a request to put someone’s wedding picture on the compact. After printing the picture, can I laminate with a Xyron laminator? Also, do I put a thin coat of resin on the compact and the put the photo on top and cover with another thin layer of resin? Thank you, as always, for all your help.

I’m not familiar with a Xyron laminator, but laminating your picture should work. Be sure to leave a margin around the picture though, otherwise, resin will leak in and stain the picture. You can see what I’m talking about for technique in this tutorial: https://www.resinobsession.com/resin-tutorials/casting-butterfly-wings-resin

Yes, a thin layer of resin brushed onto the surface would make a great adhesive. Once that has cured, you can coat with another layer of resin.

Please share a picture if you can!
