      This question comes from Pippa:

Hi there I wonder if you can help me as I’m looking into using resins. I’m looking for for a water clear resin to make discs (30cm in diameter and about 5mm in depth). Im looking to use colour (both opaque and transparent) and looking for a product that won’t discolour over time. I think I’m going to use rigid moulds (cake tins are the only thing I can find for the size I want) Any advice on products greatly received!

      Hi Pippa,

First, cake tins are not going to work for a resin mold. They will not be flexible enough to release your resin. If you did want to try, you would most definitely need to use a mold release. This is the one I would recommend. https://shop.resinobsession.com/collections/tools-and-supplies/products/petrolease-non-silicone-food-grade-mold-release

What is your final use for these castings? That will help me help you choose a resin.
