      Hi –

I want to make a clear rectangular object that has my niece’s baby moccasin in it as a gift for my sister.

The moccasin is small and white leather. I am confused about how to approach it because it is hollow. Do I first partially fill the shoe with resin, let it cure and then make the big paperweight type thing?

Also, I assume I would need the deep pour.

      Any suggestions would be helpful.

      Thank you!

      Hi Holly,

Here’s how I would approach this project:

      1. Seal the moccasin very well! I don’t know what’s a good leather sealer, but I would start there.
      2. Find a way to make sure the moccasin maintains its shape when it gets wet. I suspect the sealer would help with this, but it may not be enough. You can brush on crystal doming resin to help harden the moccasin in addition to sealing any bubbles in or out. You can buy the crystal doming resin here: https://shop.resinobsession.com/collections/resin/resin-obsession-crystal-doming-resin
      3. Cast as expected knowing that the space in the moccasin is going to be a potential bubble issue. Yes, the deep pour resin is a great choice for a project like this. You can buy it here: https://shop.resinobsession.com/collections/resin/resin-obsession-deep-pour-resin. Don’t pour more than two inches at once, otherwise, it may overheat and crack.
