This question comes from Kathleen:
What is the best resin to use for resin painting? Thin enough to add pigments, paints, mica. With a long enough working time to get effects without burning.

For coloring resin and using to paint a surface, I prefer the MasterCast resin. You can find it in several sizes in our store here: https://shop.resinobsession.com/collections/resin/elichem (We are sold out of several sizes currently but expect more in stock next week.) This FAQ on the product may be helpful to you as well: https://www.resinobsession.com/resin-frequently-asked-questions/mastercast-resin-totalcast-resin-faq
I have been happy with how well it accepts color. You can see how I have used it in this series of articles about resin painting: https://www.resinobsession.com/tag/resin-painting-study/

I have tried mastercast and liked it but the working time is very short. 10-15 minutes is not enough time for a larger piece.

Maybe the Alumilite Amazing Clear cast epoxy would work better for you? It is a 45 to 60 minute working time: https://shop.resinobsession.com/collections/resin/products/alumilite-amazing-clear-cast-epoxy-resin-32-ounces?variant=377482313754
