First timer here. Looking to do something that SEEMS straightforward, but if it is….the way to do it isnt straightforward to this newbie.

I want to cast a large object inside of a clear resin sphere. Object is reasonably sized (roughly 2 VHS tapes stacked together), sphere would end up being approximately 10 inches in diameter.

      The problems I’ve come across:

-Can’t seem to find a mold large enough
-Want water clear resin…not sure what type to use. Most ive come across are only recommended for small molds

Any guidance for this absolute beginner?

      Hi Jeff,

This is a big undertaking! I’m not aware of a mold large enough for a project like this, so you will need to make your own.

As for a resin choice, the Resin Obsession deep pour epoxy resin will work great, but you shouldn’t pour more than a two-inch thick layer at once because it may overheat. You can buy the resin in our store here: https://shop.resinobsession.com/collections/resin/resin-obsession-deep-pour-resin
