I was experimenting with textures recently using wood and packing tape for a master with which to use to cast some clear resin (Smooth Cast 326). The area with packing tape came out very shiny and clear, which got me thinking about applying some kind of clear coat onto my, very detailed, clay masters in order to achieve the same effect. I am using Super Sculpey for the master. Does anyone have any experience doing this, are there any issues with cure inhibition?

My hope is that I can achieve the smooth glossy look of hard candy that I’m after without having to sand as much as I am currently.

      Thoughts? Thanks!

The resin will cure fine over they clay assuming it has fully dried/cured. I don’t know, however, that you are going tobe able to keep the same detail. The resin will want to pool in places and stay ‘thick’.

If you try this out, will you share the results?
