      This question comes from R:

Could you please assist – we are making “pen” blanks and are mixing in various colour – using the correct pigments bought from the clear cast resin company who is supplying us with the resin and catalyst – yet when we turn out the cast – all the colours have settled at the bottom of the mould and the main colour used is at the top. Could you please give some advise on this.

Here are a few thoughts on what could be going on:

      1. It sounds like you are using too much powder for the amount of resin you are using. Try using less powder to see if you can get the same results.
      2. Are you mixing well enough? Maybe the powders aren’t getting fully dissolved in the resin.
      3. Perhaps these powders aren’t compatible with the resin you are using. Have you asked the manufacturer for tech support?

Are you using a mixture of tints type?? Powder, alcohol, dye?? That will cause the color to separate. Please give more details on your procedure. That way we can give more suggestions.

This video is one of hundreds on the topic. I have no affiliation with this company. I found the video and site informative.
