I want to make a small cookie mold from a large wall plaque that has 3D relief detail. I believe that this will include three steps. One, to make a mold from the plaque. Two, to use that mold to make a casting using the Hydroshrink product. Three, to make a mold from the shrunken Hydroshrink model. My final mold must be hard and food safe. I’d like for the final mold to be clear. All three steps need to preserve fine details. Can you recommend what products I should use for the first and third steps? Thank you so much!

      Hi Jenny,

The Amazing mold putty would work great for this. You can find it in our store here: https://shop.resinobsession.com/collections/mold-making-materials/products/alumilite-amazing-silicone-putty-kit?variant=965318805 There are directions on how to use the putty plus a video on that listing page as well. It’s very beginner friendly. Unfortunately though, the mold won’t be clear.

If you want to make a food safe mold of the hydroshrink casting, you can use more mold putty or Composimold. The Composimold is in our shop here: https://shop.resinobsession.com/collections/mold-making-materials It’s a liquid product, so you will need to create a mold box and pour it into the box to create a mold. There is an instructional video on that page as well. The finished mold ends up being a transparent yellow, which might be clear enough for what you want to do.
