I have a vintage US Flag (48 stars.) It is stitched, each star, the star background and red and blue bars are all stitched. I plan to encase in epoxy. I’m interested in getting insights befoe proceeding. I’ve never worked with epxoy.
Final look will be gray barnboard frame (2.5″ wide) with 2-3″ clear epoxy between edge of frame and flag. I expect I’ll create a thin layer of cured epoxy that I then set flag on, then pour a second layer, thick enough to completely cover flag. I anticipate creating a .5″-1″ deep channel on inside of frame that the epoxy will fill to bond to frame. Concerns:
      – weight of finished product- flag is 56″ x 44″ approx
      – discolouration of fabric – I expect there will be some
      – frabrice getting damaged by chemical
Any insights are very much appreciated.

      Hi Stuart,

Is there a reason you want to encase it in epoxy versus fabric preservation?
