I’m struggling using silicone molds and hope someone can help me troubleshoot. I make large resin pieces so work in thin layers. Using my old plastic molds, with my epoxy resin, you would never see each individual layer. But when I switch to a same size silicone mold, and pour the same height / thickness of layers, my finished product shows every single layer. Is the silicone conducting heat differently than my plastic did? Why is this happening and what can I do to stop it?

      Hi Kristi,

Yes, for some reason, it sounds like your resin is curing faster in the silicone mold than the plastic mold.

You will need to apply your next layer when the previous layer is in the gel phase. This article explains more: https://www.resinobsession.com/resin-frequently-asked-questions/what-is-the-gel-time-of-resin/
