This question comes through email by Kevin:

      Hello,

I have some acrylic resin I would like to use in a project of mine (the resin is based on polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) also known as acrylic glass or plexiglas) and I was wondering if I could build a simple mold made of solid polystyrene (not styrofoam).
If I pour the acrylic glass resin into the solid polystyrene mold, will it act as an adhesive and “stick” inside? Will I be able to get the piece of acrylic glass back out of the polystyrene mold or will it bind to the mold? Would a release agent work or be needed?
The mold wont be anything complicated, just a cube shape.

      Hi Kevin,

I wouldn’t expect this to work very well. I don’t know that it will take the heat of curing resin, plus, I would expect it to release a lot of bubbles into your resin casting.

We have mold making supplies in our store here: https://shop.resinobsession.com/collections/mold-making-materials
