I’m using Smooth On’s Smooth Cast 300 to cast negative molds from plat-cured silicone. While some cavities fill in perfectly, I’m experienced randomized cratering in the detail of the resin (see photo link below) that varies with each pour. No material is being left in the silicone so I imagine its not a sticking/demolding issue. Any process or alternate material suggestions? Thanks.

Hi William, it looks like you are trapping bubbles in your casting. Have you considered vacuum casting these?

Hey Katherine, thanks for the reply. Do you mean vacuum or pressure? I was under the impression that vacuum degassing resin wasn’t an efficient process.

          Hi Evan,

Are you using a casting resin or silicone resin to make your ‘negative’ mold?
