I have just began my resin journey. I found that both Polyester and Epoxy resin creates transparent castings. Moreover Polyester is available locally at half the price and it cures much quicker than epoxy.

Apart from its below shortfalls in comparison to epoxy, is there anything else that I am missing?

      1) Toxic fumes (I have got a respirator mask to combat it)
      2) Wavy surface (I have all equipments for polishing)
      3) Small layer pour to avoid cracking (I can be overlooked considering lower price and quick curing)

I am mainly going to use it to make clocks of various types.

      Hi Prasham,

I talk about what you need to know before using polyester resin in this article: https://www.resinobsession.com/resin-resin-resin/polyester-casting-resin/

Thanks for the article. Its really helpful.

If I find few bubbles/micro bubbles after sanding the polyester resin cast item, should I simply power little more polyester resin over bubbles and sand it or should I cast a small 1-2mm layer above the surface?
