I am looking for some suitable material to repair this little enamel plaque on the car from 1913.  As you can see, the color is somewhat inkish dark blue, and half-transparent, it looks like.  I do not intend to take away the existing enamel, but to fill in the empty spots.  Do you have something really good that I can use?

Hi P:

Assuming your plate is going to be displayed indoors on the vintage car, I would go with a clear epoxy resin and transparent blue pigment. You can get both in our store here:

I certainly would experiment first before trying this piece.  You aren’t going to need as much blue dye as you may think since the resin will darken up once you pour it into the silver reservoir.  (no light going through it)  That’s probably why it looks a little opaque to you too.
