When using a mold for jewelry, i am finding that a get a thin edge that tends to be sharp. I am using the resin obsession super clear resin. I have made the same pieces with a different resin and didn’t have this issue, I am thinking it would self level after I removed my bubbles. I discontinued using the other resin since it would yellow badly over time, hoping this one doesn’t but i haven’t had the product all that long. I am trying to find out if I am doing something differently like maybe working with it too long or if this is common. I have read articles about sanding and I don’t really want to go that route. Is there maybe another product i should try?

      Hi Crystal,

What you are describing commonly happens when casting resin into a mold. I can’t explain the physics of it, but it has to do with the surface tension of the resin and making it want to ‘ride up’ the side of the mold.

If you don’t want to sand the edges down, this video will give you an idea on how to ‘fill them in’. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DkZdO1n9R7Q&t=153s
