Hey guys, just to say hello, I’m just starting out working with resin, managed to make a couple of items (after much lurking of peoples Pins). Found a couple of the common start out problems (removing from mould, tackiness, not fully curing, BUBBLES!) but thought I would show a couple of things to get me going! Experimentation will continue (I grabbed some petals from Christmas flowers and Mod-podged them) so we shall see how that turns out!

      Hi Jimmy,

We would love to see your work! I don’t see the pictures here. Can you link to them somewhere?

Knew there was something I missed…

So far I have made simple ‘jewellery’ drop shapes, and a skull (went tacky at the back, dont think i got the ratio exact)

Will see what I can make over the next couple of days!

Hey guys, done a few more pieces!

Really happy with how these have turned out, but really have to ask, how much pigment to people add to their work? These were supposed to be… erm… well… purple.

Ah well sure I’ll get it right!

      Hi Jimmy,

It looks like you used Adirondack alcohol inks to color the resin? If so, the pink/purple colors won’t stay that way in the resin. Weird right??

If you want alcohol inks in your resin, these colors work well: https://shop.resinobsession.com/collections/colorants/products/ice-resin-color-tints

Hi, many thanks for your input!

Just wondering what types of wood you could recommend for use with resin? Looking at making rings and necklaces for friends, and some nice pieces for me of course 😉

      Thanks a lot!

Unfortunately, this is where my expertise ends. If you plan on working the pieces after resin casting, I would expect a harder wood should be a better choice.
