Hi there, I’m working on a project with many different textiles, and I’m trying to find a substanse that I could use to look like ice. I was thinking of using clouded resin, but never no experience of using it. The project is a 3D landscape, boardered with wood. I would be pouring the resin onto a wooden base (to give the appearance of a frozen lake), with wooden sides, with one side built up of plaster of Paris. I am wondering if resin would be okay for this, which resin to buy if so, and if it would have any effects on the plaster of Paris? Any help/advice would be appreciated!
      Thanks,
      Theia

HI Theia, yes, resin would work very well for this purpose. I would be sure to seal the areas that the resin will come in contact with first, otherwise, those areas will take up water stain. In this case, I would recommend using a couple of light coats of the resin gloss sealer spray. http://shop.resinobsession.com/collections/tools-and-supplies/products/castin-craft-gloss-resin-sealer-spray

As for which resin, most any epoxy resin would most likely do for this case. I don’t know how much you are pouring, but I imagine it isn’t a large area or thickness. Here’s a comparison chart to help you at this blog post: https://www.resinobsession.com/resin-frequently-asked-questions/resin-casting
