Resin coloring pigment

mixing color into resin

The resin coloring pigment experiments continue in the studio.  This week, I used the Resin Obsession transparent color pigments in the Alumilite Amazing Clear Cast epoxy resin.  I mixed 1 1/2 ounces total of resin in reusable plastic mixing cups. After dividing the resin, I mixed in 1 drop of each pigment.

I poured the mixed resin into teardrop mold 404.  (If you can’t already tell, I love this mold.)

Don’t forget to prep your mold with a light mist of Castin’ Craft mold release and conditioner 30 minutes before casting the resin.

The results after they were demolded:  SUCCESS

The colors were transparent and the resin cured as expected.  Note:  the colors aren’t as dark as they look.

When you can see the colors with more light passing through them, they aren’t as dark as they look lying flat.

Is there any way to get a good white transparent resin like with the other colors? I am trying to get black transparent, grey transparent, and white transparent.
