Purchasing a housewares item, then updating it with resin is an easy home crafts project. You’ll love how the colored epoxy gives this trivet an artistic touch.
Supply list for this resin project:
Step 1: Add tape
Place a strip of packing tape across each slot and burnish the edges well.
Step 2: Mix and color the resin yellow
Measure 1 ounce of resin and 1/2 ounce of hardener. Add one drop of transparent yellow pigment to the resin and mix well. Add a second drop if the colour is lighter than you’d like. Pour both parts into a larger cup and mix thoroughly. Leave on your bench for the bubbles to dissipate for 5 minutes.
Step 3: Add to the trivet
Draw the resin into the pipette without creating any bubbles.
Then, drip the epoxy into the horizontal cavities of the trivet directly onto the packing tape. Pick up the trivet from time to time and look underneath. Check that the resin is filling all the cavities under the cross bars of your easy home crafts project.
Step 4: Mix more resin and color it red
Measure 1 1/2 ounces of resin and 3/4 ounce hardener. Colour the resin with transparent red pigment, adding one drop at a time until you are happy with the depth of the color. Mix the two parts together and set them aside for five minutes to allow the bubbles to rise. Draw the resin into the pipette and drip it into the vertical slots until they are level with the top of the bamboo trivet. Set aside to cure.
Step 5: Remove the tape
Your easy home crafts project is ready for your table.
This bamboo and resin trivet would make a great housewarming or bridal shower gift.
