If you’re interested in making resin crafts, then you will be eager to know that you can make all kinds of amazing things with silicone molds for resin.
Don’t tell the other Resin Obsession molds, but I do have a few favorites that I swoon over.
Before I get into that, you should know a few things about using silicone molds for resin:
1. Whatever the surface of the silicone is, that same surface will transfer to your resin. Meaning if you want to make shiny resin castings with molds, you need to make sure the mold has that same shiny surface.
2. To keep your silicone molds in top shape, apply resin mold release before filling them with resin. This helps your resin demold easily. Plus it defends your mold from microtears which can shorten its useful life.
3. If you have a hard time demolding, add a bit of soapy water between the cured resin and silicone. It helps your resin to slip out like butter. I mean, like Linda Richman on SNL coffee talk buttah.
