Hey y’all! i bought the moulds to make polyhedral dice a little bit ago, and finally got my resin to try them out. I got the Alumilite Amazing Clear Cast for this project. I mixed everything according to instructions, making sure to stir very thoroughly and carefully, and it was just so incredibly thick! Now I’m sure that’s fairly normal, the problem is just that the holes in the dice moulds are teeny tiny, and the resin just wouldn’t go in. I ended up having to kind of “shovel” the resin in with a toothpick, which took for-freaking-ever, and i’ll probably have bubbles in the finished product, but that’s the least of my concerns right now. How on earth do i get the resin to go into the moulds? The resin was kind of a honey-like consistency, is it supposed to be that thick? I watched the Resin Obsession YouTube video on how to cast dice with these molds, and the resin was just so much more runny than mine. I know they used the opaque alumilite resin, but is there really such a huge difference?

I’m sorry to hear the molds are giving you a hard time. Let’s see if we can’t fix that. 🙂
In the videos I’ve done using the molds, I used casting resins. The Resin Obsession deep pour resin and super clear resin are specifically designed to use in molds. You can buy them in our store here:

https://shop.resinobsession.com/collections/resin/resin-obsession-super-clear-resinThe Amazing clear cast epoxy (a doming resin) does mix much thicker than the two above. When working with open molds, the resin viscosity isn’t as big a deal, but as you found out with molds with small openings, that honey-like thickness can be a bear to use in molds with small openings.
If you switch to a casting resin, you will have an easier time casting and have fewer bubbles.

Ah man! I assumed something called Clear CAST would work for casting haha! That’s too bad, the dice are really the only thing i wanted to use the resin for, and I’d hate to waste it. Do you think using a disposable pipette to fill the resin into the molds would work?

Maybe by using an eye dropper be it glass or plastic or even a syringe 💉 with a cage of size 10 or 14 … you will HAVETO dispose of it the proper way you can keep using it if you have 4 or 6 to do at the same time but may HAVETO work quickly then dispose of it afterwards properly
