Asuka hair clips

I initially just wanted to buy the hair clips but they are crazy expensive,so I decided to just make em.They are the hair clips worn by asuka from the famous evangelion series.However,even though I have a mold in its shape,I was wondering how to do the black side engravings using resin.Do I have to build it layer by layer?
