I have an antique miniature cardboard box that a charm came in from a jewelry store that I would like to put resin on/in and make into two pendants.

I want to use the top lid facing outward to show the jewelry store logo.

The bottom of the box I plan on putting some inclusions…will sorta look like a small shadowbox.

Will a layer of resin coating harm the top of the box? Will filling the bottom of the box part way and including inclusions damage the box?

      Thank you!

      Hi Becky,

      What a neat project!

Resin won’t hurt the box provided you seal them first. You need to apply at least two layers of a clear-drying, white glue and allow to fully dry before applying the resin.

You may also want to seal the inside/backside/underside of each part before applying the resin. While the glue will help prevent water stains, it won’t keep it from leaking through if there is a hole.
