      Hey Guys,
I have been trying to (with some success) cast resin on top of photos within a frame. I have been setting the photo down 5mm thereabouts from the top edge of the frame and filling it up flush with the frame edge. I have been using polyester resin for its clarity and hardness but even when using a 1 to 100 mix of hardener I am having cracking issues where the resin splits away from the frame and/or lifts and buckles slightly off photo creating air pockets underneath. Help! I feel like I am still having to much heat generated and this is my problem however I don’t want to underdo the catalyst.

Thanks for your help! Appreciate it.

      Chris

      Hi Chris,

Yes, it sounds like your polyester resin is getting too hot.

Have you considered an epoxy? They also shrink less which may be going on here.

We have several in our store: https://shop.resinobsession.com/collections/resin/epoxy
