      Hello!

I wonder if you can help me figure out how this is accomplished:

      https://www.etsy.com/listing/215126750/vintage-vinyard?ref=shop_home_active_18

To be clear, I am NOT trying to copy the artists design to sell myself. Im trying to make resin buttons that color coordinate with the scarves I make and want to try to get rhinestones on the tops and sides of the button as these stars have been done. I have tried several times on my own and cannot wrap my head around it.
      Any ideas?

      Hi Karen,

If I were going to create something like this, I would use E-6000 to glue the rhinestones to the finished resin casting.  https://www.resinobsession.com/ItemPage/5884/E-6000-Epoxy-Jewelry-Adhesive-Restricted-shipping.html

I was wondering the same. I’ve purchased rings that were resin with rhinestones embedded in the resin not glued on top of the resin. I was wondering how one makes a resin mold that has the divots in the resin to glue the stones into or if you press them into the resin somehow while it’s still tacky. I can’t picture such a mold in my mind and have been googling to no avail. SOS? I’m new to resin jewelry making. Ty – 🙂

You can push the rhinestones in when the resin is tacky. They will stick, but the resin itself is very flexible. You have to be careful that you don’t distort the shape of the piece. You can see how resin is flexible partway through the curing process here: https://www.resinobsession.com/resin-tutorials/diy-tree-ornaments

As for casting resin stones, then casting a resin piece behind/under them, you will need to find a way to cast the stones in place first. That will require casting the stones in the mold (thus several turns and several castings).
