Hi, I was just curious, I am new to resin casting and bought a few molds to try, one of which are european style bead molds. My question is what Type of (clear) resin would be best? and I saw a post about resin terms but i can’t seem to find it now, so is a resin and an epoxy the same thing? If i buy a clear casting epoxy do i need something else (a catalyst?) to mix it with. I’m not too familiar with the terms so if you could share any tips on best resin for a clear bead I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks so much!

      Hi Crystal,

I would recommend the Resin Obsession super clear resin. It is meant for molds and would work well in this case.

These two links on our blog explains resin terms along with the kinds of resin most used:

      https://www.resinobsession.com/resin-frequently-asked-questions/what-are-the-different-types-of-resin

When you buy a resin, the hardener will come with it. Be sure to use the hardener designed for that specific type/brand of resin. You can’t mix and match.
