harder finishing coat

      Hi, I make tables with big epoxy pours like 40L, I sand it to a 3000 grit and buff it and it looks great however epoxy is relatively soft, as a table surface its easy to scratch with a ring or even a nail, I’ve measured my resin at 80 shore D which is as hard as epoxy goes afaik.

      I’m looking for some kind of coat that give me a harder (resistance to bet scratched/cut) finish, I’ve tried polyurethane since its used in epoxy floor and wooden tables but I discovered its in fact softer than epoxy (about 70 Shore D) and its used as a sacrifice anti-abrassion coat, not really a scratch resistant coat.

      Any suggestions on coatings that increase hardness?

      Hi Baal,

      Have you tried a polyester resin? They cure quite hard. You will need to pour, then sand and finish.
