I have been using art resin to add about 1/3 of an inch of resin to the top of an uneven (mosaiced) table to give a flat surface. I’ve tried only adding 1/8 inch and not adding a tape border, but then still most of it runs off. So my lessor of 2 evils has been to add a tape border but then I end up with a square edge with a sharp rim around the edge when I remove the tape. I’ve thought about sanding the rim but that’s hard to do without also scratching the newly added resin (so then I have to resin again which defeats the purpose). Is there any way to sand the rim without scratching and having to reresin? Or do you have any other proposed solution? Thanks
Sanding produces scratches, especially when starting with coarse sandpaper. I’m afraid you are going to have to continue sanding with finer grits of paper to remove the previous layer’s scratches.
Instead of sanding the entire surface, have you tried just sanding the part where the tape creates and edge?
