One of the most awful chores of keeping an aquarium is cleaning the sand/gravel/pebbles on the bottom. Also debris that makes its way in can leach bad things into the water. Because of this many people leave the bottom bare. Very affective for reducing maintenance but it does not look very natural.
I want to try to pour epoxy resin mixed with a common material used for aquarium substrates so that the end result looks like an ocean floor but no debris will penetrate it. This layer can be as thin or thick as required. I was thinking very thin…just a coating.
My problem is that I have zero experience with resin.
      1. Will it dissolve/degrade/crack/crumble over time?
      2. How thin can it be? Should it be thick?
      3. Will it eventually pull away from the glass over time?
      Thank you for your help.
As a side note…there are plenty of people who build very large aquariums using epoxy resin over plywood so I know there are grades of resin that are designed to be under water but I can’t find anyone who has poured it on glass.
