Hello there! I’m currently making a diorama for some of my tabletop players and am looking to use resin to add to a lava field/volcano scene.

I have underpainted the lava flow and am going to Dam the outer edges of the play board. My concern is that I have an airship I want to suspend above one of the pools, like the airship is “hovering.”

I was going to get some clear acrylic Rods to create supports for the ship, but am concerned the resin heat could melt the supports while curing, and as this piece is going to be on display, I want it to be as secure as possible.

Thoughts about this idea? Others have suggested things like piano wire and hiding suspension support, but I’ll admit that while I’ve used resin a lot, I’ve never suspended something above it.

Hi Allen,

I haven’t used acrylic rods in resin, so I don’t know how they would hold their shape during curing.

I would take the ‘suspension’ approach instead.
