This question comes through by email:

Hi there. My name is Bogard. I was wondering if you could help me with my project?

I have this statue and I wish to customize the base. I want to make it a water clear resin base. What type of resin do you recommend? I dont own a degassing chamber. Do you have any advice on how to get rid of air bubbles?

I wish to make it glow in the dark . Can I use glow in the dark powder and glow in the dark paint to make it stronger and be able to use different colors (white and blue)?

      Thank you for your time

      Hi Bogard,

For the resin, I would suggest the Resin Obsession super clear resin.  https://www.resinobsession.com/ItemPage/5503/ResinObsession-SuperClear-Resin-6-oz—jewelry-quality-resin.html  It is designed for molds and mixes crystal clear.  Bubbles are almost never a problem with this resin because it mixes in a thin viscosity.  This video on our you tube channel should also help troubleshoot bubble problems:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJz0SQOCtsY

As for making it glow in the dark, we have several colors of glow in the dark pigments for resin, including blue and white.  https://www.resinobsession.com/Glow-in-the-Dark.html  The colors wont blend well (i.e. you cant mix blue and white together to get a light blue), but you can pour in layers to get the colors as two different effects.  I dont have any experience painting glow in the dark paint on finished resin castings, but if it is an acrylic paint, I would expect you to do fine.

      Good luck!
