Firehouse kitchen table made of stained plywood with a rounded edge, vinyl department patch adhered to top then coated with resin is the goal…the table is used hard with hot pots regularly set directly on it. Unsure how to treat the wood surface prior to resin as it has already been stained several times. Also unsure of the best adhesive to use for the vinyl decal on the wood prior to epoxy. And then trying to determine the best epoxy/resin. Huge project that we never dreamed would be this hard when it first started out. Your site is the most informative I have found anywhere. Help?!

To prep the table, I would suggest coating it with a couple of layers of an acrylic-based spray.  This one in our store works great: https://shop.resinobsession.com/collections/tools-and-supplies/products/castin-craft-gloss-resin-sealer-spray The wood will take up moisture from the resin, so you want to make sure you don’t get any water stains.

As for the resin, I would coat it with a layer of Resin Obsession artwork resin. https://shop.resinobsession.com/collections/resin/resin-obsession-artwork-resin  It cures clear, self-levels, and is designed to go in a glossy layer on big surfaces.  Good luck!
