I have several silicon molds to make spheres, but while I have had no problems with the smaller ones, I am unable to get the larger ones to work properly. I am trying to encase a rose in the sphere, but there are too many bubbles. I have tried pouring the resin in layers, and the bottom is fine, but the last layer at the top is always cloudy with small bubbles and riddled with larger bubbles as well. I have been using Amazing Clear Cast resin. I’d like to say I researched and found the best one, but honestly it was just what Hobby Lobby sold. After poking around on the internet a bit, I am wondering if this resin is too thick, and I need to use a thinner, slower setting resin? I just don’t want to keep experimenting if someone else has already figured it out.

      Hi Jeni,

I’m sorry to hear you are having problems. In my opinion, the Alumilite Amazing clear cast resin mixes too thick to be able to get bubble-free results in molds. A casting resin is what you need to use.

For pours of 3 ounces or less, the Resin Obsession super clear resin is what you want: https://shop.resinobsession.com/collections/resin/resin-obsession-super-clear-resin

For pours of 3 ounces or more, the Resin obsession deep pour casting resin will work: https://shop.resinobsession.com/collections/resin/resin-obsession-deep-pour-resin
