Hi, I hope someone can help me with this. Im wanting to make a ring with polyester resin. Ive already made a two part mold and I was thinking i was ready, but Im not sure now. I want to have natural crystals (amethyst, quartz, citrine) coming out of the surface in a way that looks like it grew naturally. Since all crystals will be at least slightly different, what is the best way to do that? I thought about using a dremel and carving a hole to match the profile of the crystals base, using epoxy to hold it in place, then doing touch up work with more resin. You can look up "macabre gadgets citrine growth skull ring" to get an idea of what Im going for. I appreciate any help I can get.

      Thanks

Thats the approach I would take David.

Is your ring going to be clear?  I ask because the dremel is going to leave marks that will be hard to make smooth again.  If your ring is going to be clear, they will be easily seen.  If the resin will be colored, no one will ever know.
