Is there some kind of permanent release coating that can be applied over metal?
I have a metal insert that goes inside one of my silicone molds. When the cast is removed from the mold, the insert comes out with it. I then need to pull the metal insert out of the molded resin part. So far the only release agent I have tried has been petroleum jelly and that didn’t work (the insert is still stuck inside the resin casting). I’ve thought about dipping the insert in wax, but the wax might be too thick and would change the shape of my insert too much. The coating needs to be thin. I might try taping it up with some kapton tape next, but I’m interested in other suggestions.
The resin I am using is a clear PU, and the insert is steel.
