“Shrinking” Resin?

Resin newbie here. As my resin sets it seems to “shrink” for lack of a better word. I’m using molds for crochet hooks, rings and keychains. They’re shiny silicone, so the resin pops right out. I over-fill them just a bit to create a bit of a dome but every piece has come out with a sharp edge where the resin has banked below level.

      What am I doing wrong?

      Hi Emily,

What you are experiencing is normal. I explain why this happens in this video: https://youtu.be/S6xlrNQDp_0

Any recommendations on how to prevent this without a ton of sanding? I’m using a lot of clear so I don’t want to scuff it all up.

      Hi Emily,

The longer you create with a specific resin while overfilling, the better feel you will get on how much you need to overfill to prevent this.

Unfortunately though, will need to anticipate your charms having an edge in the interim.
