I wanted to know if it was possible to use resin to create a protective layer over a wooden panel chalkboard that’s been painted. We use chalkboards at my job for specials and such. I’ve painted one already and I sealed it with acrylic spray, but as the sealer doesn’t fill in the pours in the board, the chalk markers stain my lettering. I’m working on another board and wanted to know if the entire project could be coated in a somewhat thick layer of resin that would essentially create a smooth non porous surface over everything that would enable the chalk ink to be wiped away completely without staining.

Hi Brooke, I’m afraid I would expect the resin to stain as well.
