I’m making a 1.25 by 1.50 by 21 inch resin cylinder filled with glass marbles.
It will be hung with a hook. After putting the marbles in I tested for volume with water, it took 1.5 cups of water. Is this the best way to test for resin volume, I hate waste.

What type of resin would you suggest and can I pour the entire cylinder with one pour?

      Hi Beth,

Yes, what you did approximates your volume quite well.

The Resin Obsession deep pour epoxy resin will work great for a project like this, but you shouldn’t pour more than two inches of resin at once.
https://shop.resinobsession.com/collections/resin/resin-obsession-deep-pour-resin. If you pour more than two inches at once (like filling the entire cylinder like you want to do) you need to create a ‘heat sink’ beneath the casting to draw off the extra heat. Otherwise, the resin can cure too quickly and crack.
