      This question comes from Brittani:

What is the shelf life of resin? I bought a beginner’s kit about 3 months ago. It has been sitting on the shelf because I have been so busy with craft shows. Is it still good to use? I want to start working with it this summer.

      Hi Brittani,

These are the general guidelines I follow:

      Epoxy resin – 12 months
      Polyester resin – 6 months
      Polyurethane resin – 3 months

Epoxies may start to yellow after 12 months, but will still cure if they have been stored properly. You can see what I’m talking about here: https://www.resinobsession.com/resin-resin-resin/yellowing-resin Polyesters and polyurethanes sometimes will seize up in the containers and not be pourable at all.

Here’s how I like to store resin: https://www.resinobsession.com/resin-frequently-asked-questions/how-to-store-resin
