Start by gathering your resin supplies. You’re going to need:
3. Two different colors of glitter
A little side note here. The super clear resin is a casting resin, which means it’s designed for molds. Why is that important? They mix in a way to let bubbles rise to the surface quickly. Plus, the super clear resin finishes rugged and durable. (kinda like a cast-iron skillet) You want to ensure your resin doesn’t get soft or bend when you use it.
Step 1: Set up your crafting area
If you haven’t worked with resin before, you may not know it can get messy. Spills and drips happen, so protect your table from a resin mess.
⭐️ BONUS: Here is a list of surfaces resin won’t stick to.
Step 2: Gather your supplies
Besides the items listed above, you’re going to need
Step 3: Measure and mix your resin
The super clear resin mixes two parts A (resin) to one part B (hardener).
For the first pour, mix 20 ml total. Then, divide it into three mixing cups. Color one cup with a glitter, another with a different glitter color, then a third cup with opaque white pigment.
⭐️ BONUS: Learn how to mix resin in five easy steps.
Pour one of the glitter resin colors to make the X’s. Then, the other glitter color to make the O’s. Pour the white resin into the game board section. It’s only going to be enough resin to fill your tic tac toe game board partway.
Step 4: Immediately measure and mix a second batch of resin
Mix another 20 ml of clear epoxy. Then, pour it into the white resin already in your tic tac toe game board. Let the clear and white resin mix and create unique patterns.
Step 5: Remove bubbles
Check your resin surface for bubbles. When you find them, zap them like a boss with a heat gun. Keep the tip of the heat gun a couple of inches away from your resin surface. You don’t blow your resin out of the mold (all over your table).
⭐️ BONUS: Read more tips on how to use a heat gun with resin.
Step 6: Let cure
Resin curing happens when the resin heats up. It will turn thick then harden over the next few hours. In the case of the super clear resin, it takes twelve hours to cure.
Step 7: Demold
Once the resin hardens, peel the mold away from the resin. This should happen easily.
Step 8: Finish
Check your tic tac toe game board and pieces. If you’ve got any sharp edges, sand them off with wet/dry sandpaper or a coarse nail file. You want to be sure you don’t’ scratch your table.
